“They're Space Cases!”

Source notes

In the mid-1990s, Bill Mumy, the actor who as a child portrayed Will Robinson in “Lost In Space” and as an adult was Lennier, Assistant to Minbari Ambassador Delenn on “Babylon 5,” joined with famed (and sadly now deceased) comics, novel, and TV writer Peter David, to produce a live-action science fiction TV series for children, “Space Cases.” The lyrics of the opening theme differed between the two seasons (for reasons to do with plot), but the ending line was always the same. The original was performed as a multitracked alto duet. apparently sung falsetto by then-young male actor Walter Emmanuel Jones who portrayed Harlan Band, the de facto leader of the young students of a space school from various planets who found a strange spaceship which whisked them and two teachers through a spatial rift to a place far from our solar system. I used that duet as-is for the Lead and Tenor, and added the other 2 parts to complete the chords. Performance Interpretation: the pick-up note (“They're°) is written as being in 3 octaves, but experiment with that to see what sounds best for your quartet. You may want to sing it unison, or in just 2 octaves, or only have the Lead sing it at all and the other 3 parts come in on measure 2. Whatever works best for you. This one can be fun to sing at fandom conventions.
